Holland Bloorview is Canada’s largest children’s rehabilitation and complex-care hospital. Our vision is to create a world of possibility for kids with disability.
Chosen as one of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers, Holland Bloorview offers nurses the opportunity to pursue a career that is fulfilling and encourages growth both professionally and personally. Above all, we want to attract nurses who recognize how vital their work is, and who will flourish in our unique and exceptional environment.
Supporting Children and Families
At Holland Bloorview, nurses are pivotal to coordinating care for children and families. As key members of the health-care team, they are active participants in family and interdisciplinary meetings. Other clinical staff, including therapists, speech-language pathologists, psychologists, pharmacists and physicians, act in collaboration with nursing staff to achieve the best possible outcomes for our clients.
Our families play a vital role in the decisions and delivery of health care. Nurses incorporate client and family-centered care principles and Family Systems Nursing (FSN) into their practice. The FSN model focuses on the whole family as the unit of care and involves assessment, intervention and communication. FSN supports the development of meaningful relationships and partnerships between nurses and families: mutual trust, regular communication and co-operation support the health needs of each client and family.
Choose your Area of Interest
Nurses at Holland Bloorview have many opportunities to enhance their practice in both inpatient and ambulatory care. The hospital has approximately 75 inpatient beds serving young people who have rehabilitation, complex continuing care and respite needs.
We provide inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation
Young people may need rehabilitation following a surgery or trauma. They may also require these services due to an underlying medical condition. Nurses at Holland Bloorview work with children and their families to maximize their abilities and prepare them to return to their home, school and community.
|Complex Continuing Care
Children with disabilities may also have unstable chronic illnesses or multi-system diseases. Many clients have tracheostomies or require mechanical ventilation. They require complex nursing care and ongoing specialized assessment and intervention. Nurses are key members of the team facilitating care delivery and discharge home whenever possible.
